Fall Fishing

I finally get to the little island and turn the big motor off and move up to the front of the boat and drop the trolling motor down and turn on the Hummingbird depth finder. As I make my way up to the island I noticed Three Albino RIVER OTTERS swimming away from the island, this is a sight I have never seen and by the time I got to my camera they were so far away that even if I had took the picture you would not have been able to tell what I was taking a picture of. That is one thing about Pick Wick Lake you can see so much different wild life and with all the nature changing meaning the leaves turning to golden colors the yellows browns greens, and what I like is to watch the Eagles swoop down and catch a fish and then go back up to the trees to eat their reward.

OH back to fishing, I throw the worm and slowly work it around the rocks to see if anything might be interested in my purple worm. I am watching the depth finder and it is not showing any fish and I got the gut feeling that the otters may have cleaned out the fish in this spot, and maybe I better go look else where. There are a few other coves here in Yellow Creek that have some nice trees laying in the water that might hold a fish or two that I better check out. I pull up the trolling motor up and crank the big motor and move out into the main channel of Yellow Creek heading toward the river. On the right is a cove that my Dad caught a nice 7 ponders a few years back will check it out and will change the lure from a worm to a crawdad. The Crawdad is a white/pepper one and as I pull into the cove again shut off the big motor and drop the trolling motor and move up to the tree that is laying in the water. I pitch about half way up the log and land right on top the log. Not to worry just a little wiggle and it falls off and right away "BANG" something nails the crawdad and heads for the center of the cove. It feels like  a nice fish have not seen it yet, but is giving me a nice fight though. It only last a minute of so longer then gives up and I get the fish up to the boat and it is a three pound Small Mouth Bass. I Land it thank the fish and return it for another fight another day. That fish tore that crawdad up he or she must have been real hungry or really wanted that bait. Got down in the bottom of the boat and dug out another crawdad and hooked it up and proceeded around the cove to see if I could pick up another fish. Nothing in this cove, let me check out the next cove still have not hit what I call a pattern and that is when I start picking up fish after fish on the same lure.
