Let's THINK REAL HARD BEFORE LETTING THE BOATS GO
See here is another funny way to start off an article, but must get this one in the
books seeing I was at this 2 day tournament, that Bass CAT, held in MARCH at SMITH LAKE.

TWO Hundred FORTY TWO cleaned up, shinny, waxed, gased up, and ready to fish boats
all shooting for a new BASS CAT Boat or a Brand new Mercury Motor.
Well, day one started off with Mother Nature fixing us up with plenty of rain, but
every angler knows fish eat even in the rain. It just makes it miserable for the anglers.
My Son and I caught two and both together would not make the scales if that tells you
how we were doing and I think we threw the kitchen sink, even the plug. The first day we were in flight one of
three so we had to be in the water before daylight, and had to go through the checks and I think flight three was
just pulling up when we took off boat 37.
We tried wood, then moved to rocks and what we heard the fish were not deep any
more they were moving up to spawn. My Son bought a underwater Camera and we saw the Bass but to get them to bite
something was another story. It was like that story about the guy that went fishing with the game warden and the gw
saw how the man was fishing with dy no mite. And he handed the game warden a lit stick and said are we going to
fish or what? WE did not have any and that looked like the only way we were going to catch any Bass.
The day ended and when we were standing watching the guys weighing in what they
caught and it was not great weights but they did have fish. They were saying baits that we threw, as you know as I
do anglers will lie like a dog on what they caught the fish on. Some even said they caught them in the water
period.

My Son and I went back to the hotel and talked to some of the guys that were staying
at the same hotel and we got a little different story, and they had caught fish. Comes out most of
the fish came off a CHatter Bait so off to the store we went and you're not going to
believe this but there was a guy in front of us bought every Chatter Bait he could get his hands on, see that is
our luck....no problem jump ahead alittle. I have since bought every color in Bass Pro THE CHATTER BAIT that will
never happen again and if someone wants to buy one at the lake it will cost them $200 each.....OH by the way I
bought two of each.
Back to the reason I titled the article as I did this is more for the Directors of
the TOURNAMENTS I AM GOING TO ATTACH PICTURES WITH THIS ARTICLE SO YOU GET THE PICTURE.
I hate to come across this way but I have fished tournaments where they blast off no
matter what THE weather is like and one year out of J.P. COLEMAN two ANGLERS WERE KILLED AND TWO BASS BOATS TOTALED
because of fog. One boat was headed south and the other was sitting on the point of what I call Second Creek. The
boat going south was going ===== to the wall when it hit the other boat. They said the anglers sitting still did
not know what hit them. My partner and I were sitting
inside break water at J.P. Coleman When we heard what happened, it is just not worth
it, now that Director has to live with that the rest of his life.
As it turned out for the Bass Cat Tournament it delayed us two hours and they said
one more HOUR they would call it off. My thoughts were very smart move. Two hundred forty two boats and anglers
alive to fish another day. Thumbs up to those guys.

We did get to fish the final day and I did just as good as day one. MY Son says next
time lets do some pre-fishing fine idea.
